How do I know this? It was written in my mother's dead diary. Pretty sure her maiden name was Hart. Again, written in her dead diary which is now locked away in my desk drawer with a pad lock.
The portal to Heaven. Where my mother now lives.
"Why do we have to do this every single fuckin' year?" Ally said.
"Because we're half angels." Winter stated. Ally moaned.
"I only want to go back to bed..." I yapped.
"Well. Only because you're lazy as fuck!" Ally yelled.
"And it wouldn't kill you to get off your lazy butt every once in a while...." Winter yapped.
"Why aren't Charlie and Danny coming?" Winter asked.
"Because, they aren't old enough. Or....um...haven't embraced their angel pieces...." Ally's voiced drifted off, unsure if she had said the right answer or not.
"What now?" I said, landing on the cloud. Most humans think that Heaven is made of clouds. That is somewhat true. The gate, is actually placed on a cloud at the beginning of the realm. It looks mainly like Earth. There is gardens here and there, houses and shit. But the ground, was like rainbow road. It isn't like just rainbow. It reflects the light, making it beautiful.
"We go to our meeting area, in the place where all the halves meet...Where we will see Jerry and the others...." Winter stated. Winter knows this because like our younger sister, Avalon, chose to embrace their angelic halves more than their demon halves. That's one reason they don't curse.
We roamed for a while. Until we saw a bunch of other half angels running around. One of them which was Kan, grabbed Ally. Winter and I followed them.
"Hello!" Kan said, laughing.
"Augghhh!! Hi!!" Ally said.
We entered a room, Jerry and Avalon already there. Jerry wasn't really happy about seeing me, and I wasn't happy to see him. We stared at each other for a few minutes, Emily finally coming in the room with our instructor. He set his stuff down and stared and Jerry and me, staring at each other.
"Boys?" He finally said. We stared at each other for about 5 more seconds before
turning to him and saying, "What?" at the same exact time.
We did a bunch of stupid routines and rituals. I noticed, finally, that Avalon had a katana in the lace of her dress. In the middle, the lace that separated the torso/shirt from the skirt part.
We went through our special abilities and likes. When it came to me, I said, "I like to sleep...." And Ally snicked.
"Damn right you do, lol!"
"Miss, do not speak in that swear language of yours. Ally, I do not care if you use it outside of Heaven, but inside it is definitely forbidden.
Oh hell yea! Ally just got yelled at for cursing! Hahaa!!
"Sorry...." She looked down. The blunt smile, coming out of the corner of her mouth said otherwise.
"Now, we're going to do some exorcises and fighting outside." Said the instructor, Mr. Ben...
We all walked down the hall and outside. Landing on a cloud, that was soft but very strong. I still kept my distance from Jerry. We were bound to go at each at any second now. But his eyes said if I kept my distance, he'd keep his.
"This is boring." Kan finally said.
"Alright. Why not take a break? Meet back here in 20."
I sat on the ground, next to Jerry. Here's what I heard:
Some random girl: OMG Jerry you should be a model. You so hot.
Jerry: I know right!
Then I had this weird depiction of Jerry surrounded by money. As if that would ever happen.
Then I heard Jerry chuckle.
"Dude, shutup. You're thoughts are so loud I can actually hear them..."
"Oh yea? Then what was I thinking about?" He yapped.
"You, being rich and famous, lol, as if that'll ever happen..."
"No. I was thinking about bacon." Jerry scoffed. He knew I was right.
"Oh pleaaseee..." Ally said. "You're allergic to bacon..."
Just wondering: Is it psychically possible to be allergic to food?
I decided to get up an walk around. Explore.
Most of the buildings looked old, Victorian. Most looking totally abandoned.
I grabbed the handle of one the giant doors. Double door entrance, covered in artwork and carvings. As it opened, it made a loud creak.
I had only stepped a few feet in, door slightly open. I heard a few voices from deep inside, upstairs and around the corner.
It sounded something like, "Get back to your rooms!" I wasn't sure, the voice was cloudy. I heard footsteps. Right above me. Then I heard footsteps coming from the hall. I followed it. Not long, I could make out the shape of a person. Running towards me. She appeared to be a woman, white hair tied up in buns. She was wearing a long white dress, white lace sleeves, complete with a gold and silver locket.
She must of ran into me. Because I woke up with her standing over me.
"Are you alright?" She asked, her voice soft as snow.
"Yea, I'm alright." I sat on my knees. She looked at me for a minute. A long silence. I poked her, but she didn't move.
I heard more footsteps, behind her.
"Alice! What are you doing?! Get back to your room!" Men running towards us.
She stood up. "It's alright. I know him..."
She knew me? Knew me?
"Uh---"
"He's my son...." She smiled back at the guys with spears. She turned back to me. "Xevier, you've grown."
"Duh....?" I shrugged. "Mom....?"
One of the guys tried to pull her away from me. I took out one of my knives. "GET AWAY FROM HER! I'LL PROTECT HER WITH MY LIFE!!" I yelled, swinging the knife at them. They stepped back.
"He has fangs." One of them said.
"He's half demon, half angel." Mom said. I nodded.
"I saw your body back on Earth, in your grave. All bloody...." My voice trailed off.
"Yes, this form is my soul....." I stared at her.
I grabbed her. "Come with me, there's people I want you to meet!"
"Oh, Alright! But I can't go beyond the gates of the dead half of Heaven!"
I brought her outside, where my brother and sisters were gathered, all talking. The first one to look at Mom was Ally. Ally fainted.
"Don't worry..." Winter stated. "She did this when she met HU..."
"HU?" Mom asked.
Winter rolled Ally over, and pointed to the HU symbol on Ally's jacket. "It's a band..."
She scanned us one by one, she'd never met Avalon, Emily or Kan, but she was defiantly excited to see them.
Later Mom walked me into a room back inside the place she'd came out of. She told me that I am taller than my Dad.
"He was about as tall as Ally, and you're just like towering above him..." She laughed. For a dead mother, she's very happy and independent. She told me how she missed my Dad and how she loved me so much when I was a baby.
"What were your thoughts when you lost me?" I blurted.
"Oh baby....I thought my life was over. I couldn't live with myself..." Her voice went flat. "Your Dad kept telling me that it was alright, but I couldn't believe him until you were back in my arms...."
"But I never came back...Never found my way..." She nodded.
The teacher, finally asked us to come back. He said that we are going to fight him.
Ally ended up starting with the sentence, "I'm about to go undead on your ass!" That time Mr. Zach didn't correct her, he figured out he couldn't correct her demon nature. Ally also ended up stabbing him. So I guess that was the end of our session.
"Ally! Overkill, much?!" Winter screamed. Ally stood there, staring at his body. Was she in her possessive mode? Was she about to turn to us and try to kill us?
"Ally, dial it down." I blurted. That's when she made her next move. She came right at me, with a knife. She tried to stab me. My own sister. She came at me, her right side. So I moved to my right, grabbing the knife outta her hands, putting it in my teeth and kicking her back. She landed on her feet, bent down, one hand on the ground. I noticed she had her knife back in her mouth. A small chuckle came out of her mouth. She came back at me. I grabbed her by the neck, and was about to swing my knife at her. A faint smiled came out of her mouth.
Before I got the blade even close to her face, she had kicked me up and kicked me again, through the side of a building.
I grabbed her neck with both of my hands, sitting on her, I jabbed the knife into her. As her brother, I knew the dagger wouldn't kill her. But it'd at least calm her down.
I stood up and turned to Mom. "I'm sorry you had to see that..." I said, rolling up my sleeves.
"Nono, hun, that's what makes you a good brother." She smiled. I tried to smile back. I didn't know what to believe. I mean, I loved her but I wasn't sure that she was right.
Ally ended up stumbling back. Winter grabbed her.
Time finally caught up to us. I really wanted Mom to come with us, but she couldn't go beyond Heaven. I kept thinking to myself "dammit". This time, she waved goodbye at us. But before told only me, that everytime we come back, we could see her.
